Sneak Peek

I have more for you from Squigglefly; a sneak peek of one of the images that will be released January 7th.  This one is by new artist Monica Estill and it's called Animal Totem Pole.  If you shop at Squigglefly (and if you don't, WHY NOT?!?!?!) you are probably familiar with the digital images called Inside Outs; a funny image for the outside of your card with an even funnier one-liner for the inside.  My card today is take on that format, but the Squigglefly image is on the inside.  Guess you could call it an Outside In.

Hope you got a chuckle out of this one.  Hugs, Shawna

The Squigglefly Design Team

2012 is almost here!  I am posting a card made with Squigglefly's Dogwood Delight digital stamp; you know, just practice for the DT :-)  I truly love this image and can see myself using it often.  With this card I did some paper piecing for the vase and raised the whole image up on pop dots to give some dimension.  Please stop by the Design Teams' blogs and check out their awesome creations. Wishing you a Happy New Year!  Hugs, Shawna

Here's a list of the new DT members and their blogs.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!

I hope it was a special, wonderful, memorable time for all of you.  Being with my sons and their families is so special to me.  We don't live but a mere 50 miles apart, but we do not see each other as often as I would like.  They may have a difference of opinion :-)  but that's mine. Now that the celebration of our Savior's birth is all but over I wanted to show you the shirts I made for the guys in my life.  My oldest son races motorcycles (this terrifies me) and I wanted to do a T shirt for him to acknowledge that while I hate the very thought of his getting hurt ----- he has and he will ------- I do support his love of the sport.  I searched for a font that kind of gave the suggestion of speed and found it in the font called First . When I had the words on my Silhouette's art board arranged to my liking I added three elongated triangles to also suggest speed.  All that was left to do was cut with the Cameo and apply the Heat Transfer Vinyl according to directions. It applies easily and looks so professional.  HTV was also used for my little grandson's blue shirt.  He was helping me choose files from the Silhouette Store one day and we ran across GO DAWGS.  You should have heard him.  In his sweet little voice he whispered "Oh, gramma, I love that" --- well, you know for sure it was going in the cart!!!  Since our last name is Sealander, my son often uses the expression Seadawgs, that's why Zachie wanted the Go Dawgs.  He loves his daddy!!!  The skull shirts are done with fabric paint.  This too is an easy medium to work with using freezer paper for stencils. After I had them done I was worried that the skull might mean something I wouldn't want my grandsons associated with so I asked a friend and she said she didn't think so, that it was just one of those fads.  I know I see them everywhere and I am hoping they really are just an innocent fad thing.

That's it for this Silhouette Sunday.  Thank you for stopping by and once again MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Hugs, Shawna

The news is..............

I am on the 2012 Design Team for Squigglefly!!!!! I am SO excited about this!  I was asked for the July-to-December term but didn't feel I would have enough spare time to devote to it, and let's face it, when you sign on for something like that you need to be able to fulfill your obligations; but I jumped at the chance to be on the team for the January-to-June term.  They have two teams and the teams alternate weeks designing cards for the weekly challenge as inspiration for those who participate.  The challenge is different each week and we will design cards using the new digital images released by the very talented artists at Squigglefly.  I am on team two and will start with the January 16th challenge.  But in the meantime Holly sent out a last minute Christmas image called "A Christmas Classic" and I made a card with it to kind of get my feet wet.  It's my on-line Christmas card to all of you faithful blog readers. Thank you for stopping by today!  Hugs, Shawna

Ornaments

Hi!  I wanted to make a quick post and show you these ornaments now or it wouldn't  be until after Christmas and that would be a bit redundant, right?  And nooooo this isn't the exciting news post, but it's coming.  Probably tomorrow or Friday I will let you in on the news   **grinning from ear-to-ear**.

I buy a rocking horse ornament for a special young lady every Christmas but wasn't able to find one for her this year or last year.  Seems ornaments have a cycle of popular or trendy themes and rocking horses were not in the mix the last few years.  Here's where the Silhouette Store and my Cameo came to the rescue. I bought two different cut files and cut several of each and glued the layers together to give them some heft.  I thought of trying some chipboard but with a few more things to make for Christmas I didn't want to push the envelope.  Several ladies in the Silhouette Plus Forum have cut chipboard successfully, but I am not ready to try it yet.  Not until I have an extra cutting blade on hand.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  Hugs, Shawna

Can you believe it?

Christmas is only a week away!  Are you ready?  Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.  . . . . . .
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the one we had last year.  Yes, I know, that's not exactly how it goes, but, well............. :-)  the Christmas spirit has hold of me and I have been humming all the wonderful songs of the season.  It came upon a midnight clear. . . . . .   guess I better get to this week's Silhouette Sunday project.
I have several doggies I pet-sit for and I wanted to do something for them (Come on.  They're people too; just with fur!!)  :-)    Actually this is kind of for their owners as well as for the dogs, kind of a combination kind of gift.  I found these cute totes on the Animal Welfare site and knew right away what I would do with them;  Jazz them up with some personalization.

I bought some purple cotton fabric and after preparing the fabric, I used Steam-A-Seam2 fusible web (made in the USA!!!) from The Warm Company to back the fabric.  I chose my font, loaded the fabric/fusible web combo into Cami and let her do her magic.  The letters were then applied to the bag and I wrapped it up.

I used my paw print wheel to cover a piece of freezer paper with little feet, added a couple of doggie treats and a red ribbon.  Good to go.
Thank you for stopping by Paper Kisses and Inky Wishes.  Time's a tickin, better get kickin!!!

Cards

Every year I try to make my Christmas cards and I never seem to have enough time and the process becomes stressful and a chore rather than a labor of love.  Soooooo, last year I sent out store bought cards and saved the ones I made last year to send out THIS year.  Currently I am working on NEXT year's card.  I know that seems a bit odd, but it sure takes the pressure off.  If I don't get the cards done it's no big deal because I can work on them after Christmas, even into the new year.  Stress kills ladies!!!  Let's plan on living a long time :-).  So here are the cards I sent out this year (I didn't make enough and some of you are not getting hand made, but I will make more this time for next time)

This photo was oriented the correct way in photo program.  I do not know why it sometimes does this sideways act upon transferring to blogger, but it does.  Sorry about that.  I've said it before, I don't know how to correct this. Would be nice if they had a way to rotate the photo after it's been downloaded.
Used for this card:  Snowflake Cuttlebug folder, Spellbinder's Oval nestie, Copic markers to color the lamppost stamp, Cranberry Stampin' Up ink for stamping Christmas Hugs.
Eleven days until Christmas 2011 is history.  BIG CHRISTMAS HUGS TO ALL OF YOU!  Shawna

Gifts Galore

I have had my Cameo humming ---- in between dealing with a hacker who got into my email program on Yahoo and a frozen pipe in my bathroom yesterday.  Ugh.  I was surprised about the pipe freezing considering the afternoons have been in the mid 40's to low 50s for several weeks now.  But I did notice the creek behind my house is freezing along the edges...........will have to leave a faucet dripping tonight.
But on the fun side of things, I am getting a handle on my gifts.  First, I have a basket of favors I put together for my nail clients.  The pillow boxes as well as the tags were cut in no time at all using my Cameo.  I tucked a purse sized hand cream and a small nail file inside.

I also made some bag toppers and cut names out with Cami instead of using a tag for the gifts I wanted to give to my former daughter-in-law and the new girls in my sons' lives.  The Silhouette Cameo did such a fabulous job cutting the letters in the Black Rose font.  All I had to do was add some Christmasy Stickles and attach to the bags with Zip Dry.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  Hope you have a wonderful week!  Hugs, Shawna

Ready for rain

Last spring I came across these rains boots and their color caught my eye.  When I looked at the tag and they were on close out for less than $5 AND they were my size, I snapped them up.  Always on the lookout for things to decorate with something made with my Silhouette, I thought these would look cute duded up with a little umbrella.  So I chose some green vinyl, cut the pattern, and applied them to these boots.  Only problem is, I was just learning the ins and outs of vinyl application and I didn't realize that I should have used outdoor vinyl.  These cute little umbrellas on my cute little bargain boots won't last, but when it does come off I will cut another set of patterns and do it right.  Now we just need some rain so I can wear them out to the wood pile to get in my daily ration of firewood.  Have a fabulous week!  Hugs, Shawna
