Good morning! Welcome to another edition of Silhouette Sunday. Today I want to show you a vinyl project, but first let me whine a little bit OK? I finally got my pre-ordered Silhouette Cameo (oh the waiting was HARD) and what a disaster that turned out to be. There have been all kinds of issues with it from almost everyone who purchased it. Now, don't get me wrong, I love Silhouette America and they will get the issues fixed. They have the best customer support of any company I have ever purchased anything from bar none, but it is just so frustrating to look forward to something and then just have problems. Mine was a blade issue. The blade tore the paper rather than cut it and many, many new Cameo owners have had this happen. Some even had the problem after receiving a replacement blade. Thankfully my new blade is working fine. My Silhouette SD is long gone, having been purchased off ebay but there for awhile I was really wishing I had kept it. I couldn't have two machines and the sale of the SD had to help pay for the Cameo so no since whining about that. It is what it is, but let me tell you waiting for the new blade, which took almost two weeks to get, wasn't a lot of fun. I would go into the Silhouette software and cruise the file store adding items to my wish list, and I also spent a lot of time re-sizing and/or designing cut files and saving them so when my Cameo was up and running properly I could cut, cut, cut. And I have! Today's project is just one of them and I have lots more to share in the Sunday's to come. OK, enough of that. If you are still with me thus far, thank you for listening :-)
As any of you who have been with me for awhile know, my dogs are very important to me; they are part of my family. And being such a special part of my family means they require special treatment. Today's project is the application of vinyl cutouts to decorate two jars I picked up at the dollar store to store Toonie Mae Hound Princess Dog of Burney and Burger's treats. Isn't it funny how they know just where you are and just what is about to happen simply from the sound of something? Burg comes running when he hears the clasp on his jar being opened. Toonie doesn't, of course, because she is blind, but she certainly perks up!!!
The black paw prints and the bone name tags are cut from fuzzy vinyl. I love fuzzy vinyl, it just looks so much better than the flat stuff. The pink is regular vinyl because it is what I had, but it looks good. For some reason it is only the black that looks wonky in regular vinyl. Notice the "jewels" in The Princess's crown :-) ?This was an easy-peasy project and adds a bit of whimsy to my kitchen decor.
Some use the mat when cutting vinyl but I do not, even when cutting small projects. The reason for NOT using a mat is to allow you to cut longer lengths of vinyl say for making signage. I suppose using a mat for the smaller projects would make the process of loading the vinyl a bit easier, but I just like to stay with the same method. My brain works better that way. Ha! Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful week.
Hugs, Shawna

Hi Shawna! So sorry you had so much trouble with the Silhouette and getting it to finally work correctly. It's nice having good customer service and so happy they could help!
These are adorable - and what better way to store those doggie treats! Love the little pay prints on them too. Adorable and very useful!
We have a little doxie and I just store his treats in a jar. I'll have to think of some way to decorate them now! Thanks for the idea.

Bummer that you've been having issues with your Silhouette, Shawna :( However, I love the little treat holders you made. . .adorable!
These are sooo cute, Shawna...I love the vinyl paw prints, names, and crown you added and the jewels you added to the crown are the perfect finishing touch!!!!
